February 26, 2021

Presenter: Vaiva Deltuvaite-Thomas, Research Statistician at IDDI
Date and Time: 26 February, 14:30 – 15:30 CET
Location: Via TEAMS

ABSTRACT

Most of the standard statistical methods currently used in the research have been developed to deal with complete data. Yet, in real life, many things can go wrong: people might refuse to answer some questions, do not show up at their appointments, or the lab equipment might suddenly fail to measure the outcomes we need. All of these situations, and many more, will inevitably lead to missing values in the final dataset. But does it matter on a larger scale?
The workshop will aim to answer this question. It will look into missing data situations, introduce main concepts related to the field, discuss the importance of addressing missingness, and provide an overview of approaches for dealing with it.
